Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has expressed deep condolences on the passing of prominent state and public figure, member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Doctor of Juridical Sciences, Professor Mir-Akbar Rakhmonkulov, who died on February 11 at the age of 74.
Mir-Akbar Rakhmonkulov was born on October 5, 1952, in Tashkent. In 1975, he graduated from Tashkent State University with a degree in law and began his career as a junior research fellow at the Research Institute of Economics under the State Planning Committee. In subsequent years, he worked at the Central Committee of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan, the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the country.
From 1992 to 1994, Rakhmonkulov served as First Vice-Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, contributing to the training of highly qualified personnel in foreign policy. From 1995 to 1997, he headed the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and was Deputy Director of the Institute for Monitoring Current Legislation. Under his leadership, strategic research was conducted aimed at ensuring the stability and security of the country.
Mir-Akbar Rakhmonkulov actively participated in the development of state programs and legislative drafts, prepared a number of monographs and scientific-methodological manuals on issues of regional security and international cooperation. He held positions as State Advisor to the President and Secretary of the National Security Council, and since 2022, he worked in the Presidential Administration, simultaneously heading the Institute of Legislation and Legal Policy and serving as a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
The President noted that the outstanding scholar and statesman demonstrated high professionalism, dedication, and sincere patriotism, and his contribution to the development of science, law, and state policy in Uzbekistan will remain invaluable.
Mir-Akbar Rakhmonkulov was awarded the title "Honored Lawyer of the Republic of Uzbekistan" and decorated with the orders "For Selfless Service" and "Glory" II degree. His bright memory will forever remain in the hearts of colleagues, students, and compatriots.
