Uzbekistan acquired 99.91% of the 558.7 thousand tons of coal exported by Tajikistan abroad.

In 2025, Tajikistan produced over 2.8 million tons of coal, an increase of 235 thousand tons or 10 percent compared to 2024. This was announced by Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir at a press conference in Dushanbe.
Coal exports grew significantly, with 558.7 thousand tons shipped abroad, up 42 percent from the previous year. Uzbekistan was the primary buyer, purchasing 99.91 percent of the total volume—558.2 thousand tons. Afghanistan acquired the remaining 474 tons.
On the domestic market, 2.27 million tons of coal were sold, including 800 thousand tons supplied to the TPP-2 power plant in Dushanbe. Nearly 451 thousand tons were sold to the public.
It is reported that new coal enterprises are planned for construction in the coming years. Work is underway with companies from Russia, China, the European Union, and Uzbekistan to attract investments and develop production capacities.
