Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament (Jogorku Kenesh) Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu has resigned. He announced his decision on Thursday during a parliamentary session.

"Against the backdrop of all past events, I consider it important to note: I do not serve one or two individuals; I serve the state and the people. I have decided to resign of my own free will," he stated.
According to Turgunbek uulu, he will continue working as a member of parliament.
"I want to emphasize that I have never worked for one or two people; I have always acted in the interests of the country and the Kyrgyz people. Throughout this time, I have contributed to making important and necessary decisions. I am not going anywhere; I will work as a deputy. We must learn to work without intrigues to preserve political stability," he stressed.
The speaker also reported that the parliamentary delegation returned from Turkey the day before, where a productive working visit took place.
Earlier, media reports had emerged about the possible resignation of the head of the Jogorku Kenesh after his return from Turkey. These reports came amid the resignation of the head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev.
