The Tashkent city administration has announced a comprehensive renovation of the capital's Broadway (Sayilgoh Street) and its adjacent park, green areas, pedestrian approaches, and urban infrastructure elements.

The initiative aims to develop pedestrian infrastructure, ensure a safe and barrier-free urban environment, and improve public spaces while preserving their unique capital appearance and atmosphere.

It is emphasized that Tashkent Broadway remains one of the most recognizable walking spots in the capital, traditionally hosting active street life with artists, musicians, residents, and visitors. The administration noted that the high pedestrian load and significance of the area require modern, sustainable, and careful solutions for its further development.

According to published data, an analysis of the current condition showed the need for phased renovation of not only the pedestrian zone but also the surrounding areas.

The project will be implemented based on the principles of the Unified Design Code and comprehensive urban development. In preparing the concept, the authorities intend to consider proposals from residents and the professional community.

The administration stressed that Broadway will retain its status as an open public space, and representatives of the creative environment, including street artists, will remain part of the city's atmosphere. The main task of the project is not to limit urban activity but to streamline it and create a more comfortable, accessible, and safe environment.

The project plans to renovate road and sidewalk surfaces, improve pedestrian routes, modernize the lighting system, reconstruct fountains, and install new benches, trash bins, and other landscaping elements. It also includes developing greening and irrigation systems, streamlining signage and advertising according to the Unified Design Code, dismantling illegal structures, and introducing video surveillance systems.

Existing trees are being inspected under the supervision of specialized specialists. The authorities also intend to plant at least 1,000 new green plants, including trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants.
