Turkish football club Istanbul Basaksehir has completed the permanent signing of Uzbekistan national team striker Eldor Shomurodov, who had been playing for the club on loan from Italian side Roma.

According to the Championat Asia portal, the Istanbul side activated the purchase option included in the loan agreement, paying Roma €2.8 million. The 30-year-old center forward's current market value is estimated at €7 million.

The Uzbek footballer joined the Turkish club in the summer of 2025 on a loan deal with an option to buy. In the current season, he has shown high efficiency in the Turkish league, regularly scoring goals and providing assists, and has become one of the top scorers in the first half of the season.

His confident performances convinced the club's management to finalize the permanent transfer ahead of schedule, even though Shomurodov's contract with Roma was valid until 2027.

Earlier, Shomurodov was named Uzbekistan's Best Footballer of 2025. The Uzbekistan Football Association announced the winners of the annual national awards, with Diyora Khabibullayeva named Best Female Footballer and Timur Kapadze receiving the Best Coach award.
