The National Pavilion of Uzbekistan was inaugurated at the 61st Venice Biennale in Italy, which this year is themed 'In Minor Keys'. Saida Mirziyoyeva spoke at the ceremony, emphasizing the platform's importance for presenting the country's contemporary culture to the world.
The project, titled 'The Aural Sea', focuses on the Aral Sea, exploring it through memory, myth-making, and deep artistic research.
According to Mirziyoyeva, the Biennale's theme accurately reflects the current era, which demands subtle and complex expressions about ways of understanding the world. The exhibition presents the Aral tragedy not only as an ecological disaster but also as a space for cultural reinterpretation.
The national pavilion has again generated significant interest among international audiences, experts, and visitors, highlighting the desire of Biennale participants to become more familiar with the region's heritage and contemporary art.
Participation in the Venice Biennale allows Uzbekistan to strengthen its position in the global art community annually. Organizers note that such projects help draw attention to Central Asia and encourage foreign guests to see the republic's unique locations firsthand.
