On May 22, a farewell ceremony for the Uzbekistan national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Mexico, Canada, and the United States, took place at the Bunyodkor Stadium. The event was organized by Coca-Cola, the official partner of the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA).

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech at the ceremony, emphasizing the historical significance of the occasion. The head of state expressed gratitude to the players for providing unforgettable moments to the country, as well as to their parents, coaches, and all members of the national team.

Additionally, the president highlighted the role of fans, especially fan clubs, in supporting the players during every match, acting as the 'twelfth player.' 'I am confident that at the World Cup, together with thousands of our compatriots and fellow citizens abroad, they will support our players with the same enthusiasm and cheers as today,' he said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that football in Uzbekistan has already become 'a true friend of every family.' He expressed confidence that the athletes' successes would inspire new champions among the younger generation.

Addressing the national team members, the president stated that the Uzbek people are seeing them off to the World Cup with high spirits and blessings. 'Important matches await you against the teams of Portugal, Colombia, and Congo. Take to the field with great energy and confidence. Know that we are always with you. We believe that with true Uzbek courage, resilience, and will, you will show beautiful and confident play and make us all happy… Long live Uzbek football! Long live the youth of new Uzbekistan! Long live the creative people of Uzbekistan!' he concluded.

After the president's speech, the national anthem of Uzbekistan was played. The head of state then took a photo with the national team members and coaching staff, greeted everyone, and wished them success.

A concert program followed, featuring Sevara Nazarkhan, DJ Piligrim, and other Uzbek pop stars. The concert included songs dedicated to the successful qualification of the Uzbekistan national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In addition to songs, a poem on the same theme was recited on the field. The author of the verses dedicated to the success of Uzbek footballers called on them to play 'for every compatriot, for the supreme fan, for the reformer of football who rejoiced for the country.'

While the concert was taking place, the Uzbekistan national team players warmed up before the match amid the songs and noise of the fans.

After the concert, the players divided into two teams—white ('Team A') and blue ('Team B')—and started a symbolic match. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev watched the game from the stadium.

Fans were dressed in various outfits, ranging from historical figures to traditional doppas. They showed support for the players, with some asking favorite players to exchange jerseys.

The match ended with a score of 4:3 in favor of the team in blue. Goals were scored by defender Farrukh Sayfiyev, forwards Azizbek Amanov and Husain Norchaev, and midfielders Akmal Mozgovoy, Quvondiq Roziyev, Doston Khamdamov, and Nodir Abdurazzoqov.
