Uzbekistan has thwarted two attempts to sell large batches of counterfeit US dollars. The total amount seized reached $120,000. Criminal cases have been opened for both incidents, and investigations are underway.

The first case occurred in Angren, Tashkent region. During a joint operation by the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office and other law enforcement agencies, three citizens were detained. According to investigators, they attempted to sell 80,000 fake $100 bills for $40,000 in genuine currency. The suspects were caught red-handed while handing over the money.

The second incident was uncovered in Navoi region, where a local resident agreed to sell 40,000 counterfeit bills for $28,000 in real money. He was detained while selling a portion of $10,000, with physical evidence seized.

Criminal cases have been opened on charges of fraud and manufacturing or selling counterfeit currency. Investigative actions are ongoing to determine all circumstances and possible accomplices.

Earlier, in Khanabad, Andijan region, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan was detained while attempting to exchange a large batch of counterfeit dollars.
