Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. Uzbek cinema has once again made its mark on the international stage, winning several key awards at a major foreign film festival. Director, screenwriter, and educator Rashid Malikov became a laureate of the 3rd International Film Festival 'Eurasia-Filmfest', whose closing ceremony took place at the Frunze Summer Theater in Sochi.

The highest praise from the expert jury was awarded to the screenplay for the feature film 'Vata'. Rashid Malikov shared the prize in the 'Best Screenplay' category with his co-author Yan Milenin. Their film tells the dramatic story of a woman named Gulchekhra, who lives a difficult life in an Uzbek village. Betrayed by those closest to her, the heroine finds inner strength for spiritual rebirth.

At the prestigious festival, Rashid Malikov represented Uzbekistan in the main competition of feature films. According to the voting results of the international jury, the screenplay for 'Vata' outperformed strong competitors and was recognized as the best among the submitted works.

Upon returning to Tashkent, the director shared his impressions of the festival, noting the qualitative growth of the event and the high level of competition: 'The festival is being held for the third time and is gradually becoming an authoritative platform for filmmakers. Many countries were represented, many directors came, including a delegation from Uzbekistan. Our film participated in the main competition of feature films, and based on the jury's vote, my co-author Yan Milenin and I received the prize for best screenplay for the film 'Vata'. I want to note that the competition screenings were very strong, and the competition was fierce. This gives even greater satisfaction from the award.'

It is worth noting that the triumph of the creative tandem of Malikov and Milenin was not the only success of the national film school at this festival. A special prize in the 'Best Foreign Film in Russian' category was awarded to another Uzbek film – 'The Early Blooming Tulip' by director Akhadzhon Okhunov.

This year, 'Eurasia-Filmfest' was held under the motto 'CINEMA — Culture. History. Heritage. Image' and demonstrated an impressive scale. The festival featured representatives from 53 countries, including 11 EU member states, and more than 100 premiere films were shown in competition sections. Over the course of a week, festival screenings were attended by more than 45,000 viewers. The main prize for best feature film went to Colombia (the film 'Laktar'), and awards were also given to projects from Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia.
