A resident of Tashkent has been arrested for attempting to sell a large batch of counterfeit currency. He was caught red-handed during the transaction.
The operation was carried out by the Department under the General Prosecutor's Office in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies. According to investigators, the suspect tried to sell counterfeit $100 bills totaling $10,000 to a citizen. He valued the deal at $6,500 in genuine currency.
The suspect was detained at the moment of handing over the money. All counterfeit banknotes were seized and added to the case file.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 176 (Manufacture or Sale of Counterfeit Money, Excise Stamps, or Securities). The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, in the Tashkent and Navoi regions, the sale of 120,000 counterfeit dollars was prevented.
