Law enforcement in Fergana thwarted an extortion attempt. Two young men demanded money from a local resident, threatening to disclose personal information.
According to the investigation, the suspects, aged 18 and 19, demanded 9 million soums from the victim in exchange for not revealing information he wished to keep secret.
During an operational measure, both were caught red-handed while receiving the money. The transfer was conducted under police control, and the banknotes were pre-treated with a special chemical.
Authorities remind that extortion is a criminal offense, and liability applies regardless of age. They emphasize the importance of parental control over children's online activities.
Citizens are urged to remain vigilant, not to give in to threats, and to promptly report such incidents to law enforcement.
