In the first six months of 2026, Uzbekistan recorded 2,286 road traffic accidents, resulting in 3,306 injuries, according to the State Statistics Committee.

The highest number of accidents occurred in Tashkent city – 420 cases, accounting for nearly one-fifth of all incidents nationwide. It is followed by Samarkand region (311), Tashkent region (271), Fergana region (218), and Namangan region (196).

Andijan region reported 160 accidents, Kashkadarya – 135, Surkhandarya – 120, Karakalpakstan – 114, Khorezm – 85, Navoi – 83, and Jizzakh – 75. The fewest accidents were recorded in Syrdarya (50) and Bukhara (48) regions.

Thus, every fifth accident occurred in the capital, while Bukhara region had nearly nine times fewer accidents than Tashkent. On average, about 13 accidents happen daily on Uzbekistan's roads, injuring approximately 18 people.

Earlier, it was reported that the nephew of a regional governor (hokim) in Jizzakh, accused of a fatal accident, was released on bail.
