The Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan has uncovered a criminal conspiracy between officials of JSC 'Hududgazta'minot' and LLC 'Technopark'. Their illegal actions resulted in damage to the state budget of nearly 20 billion soums.
According to the investigation, the perpetrators formalized fictitious documents claiming that maintenance work on electronic gas meters had been carried out, thereby embezzling or misappropriating 19 billion soums of budget funds. The lack of proper oversight over the targeted use of allocated funds facilitated the crime.
Further inspection revealed another violation: 273 gas meters manufactured by 'Technopark' and installed by 'Hududgazta'minot' for consumers were undercounting gas consumption. This caused additional damage to state and public interests amounting to 861.1 million soums.
A criminal case has been initiated under relevant articles of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are currently underway to establish all circumstances of the case.
The department emphasized that such cases demonstrate the ongoing fight against embezzlement of state funds. Citizens and organizations are urged to report any similar incidents to the relevant authorities.
