Uzbekistan, Tashkent – Podrobno.uz. Despite increasing domestic production of automobile gasoline, Uzbekistan increased its imports by 54% in the first seven months of 2026. The republic purchased 710,000 tons of fuel abroad — 248,300 tons more than in the same period last year.

These figures were released by the Customs Committee. The republic spent $426 million on gasoline purchases abroad. Thus, on average, a ton of imported fuel cost about $600.

For comparison, in January-July 2025, Uzbekistan imported 461,700 tons of gasoline worth $264.9 million. Over the year, the volume of purchases increased by more than half, and import costs rose by $161.1 million, or almost 61%.

At the same time, the growth in imports occurs against the backdrop of increased domestic gasoline production. In the first half of 2026, the country produced 614,200 tons of automobile gasoline — 34,500 tons more than in the same period of 2025.

Earlier, it was reported that Kyrgyzstan had asked Uzbekistan and several other states to help ensure the domestic market with fuel and avoid a possible shortage.
