President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's state visit to South Korea has concluded. Over several days, the two sides agreed to give new impetus to their special strategic partnership, and the Uzbek side invited Korean businesses to invest more actively in the country and participate in its technological development.
Speaking to the heads of leading companies and financial institutions of both countries, Mirziyoyev stated that Uzbekistan is opening a new stage of industrial and technological development. According to him, the country is interested in creating joint ventures, localizing technologies, and entering new markets together with Korean partners.
"Today our main task is not just to maintain the achieved dynamics of cooperation, but to turn these successes into a foundation for qualitative forward movement," the president said.
During the visit, the first "Central Asia — Republic of Korea" summit was also held. Speaking about bilateral relations, Mirziyoyev noted South Korea's special role for Uzbekistan. "For Uzbekistan, the Republic of Korea is a special strategic partner in Central Asia. For us, this is a truly dear friend and an important partner," the head of state said.
He also emphasized the closeness of the two peoples, noting the similarity of mentality and traditions and historical ties dating back to the era of the Great Silk Road. A separate part of the program was a meeting at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea. It was noted there that the talks give Korean businesses the opportunity to explore new investment projects in Uzbekistan and present their proposals directly to the president.
"Seeing you, I gained strength and power," Mirziyoyev said, addressing representatives of companies and financial institutions. Concluding the visit, the president emphasized that the main task now is not only to preserve the achieved dynamics but to turn it into a basis for further development of cooperation.
The visit was accompanied not only by official meetings and negotiations but also by gestures of attention from the Korean side. As previously reported by presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov, during the trip Mirziyoyev met with former South Korean Ambassador to Uzbekistan Lee Wook-heon, talked with the leaders of Central Asian countries on the sidelines of the first "Central Asia — Republic of Korea" summit, and also signed a copy of the "Mirziyoyev Doctrine" in Korean for the speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea.
For the Uzbek leader's visit, Seoul also prepared symbolic greetings: the flag of Uzbekistan appeared on Lotte World Tower and the Seoul TV Tower, an airship in the colors of the Uzbek flag flew over the city, and light images of the country's emblem and flag were displayed on a fountain in front of the presidential residence. South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, in turn, prepared red Korean ginseng for Mirziyoyev and a white porcelain item with silver for First Lady Ziroat Mirziyoyeva.
