President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the opening of the second meeting of the American-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council in Samarkand, outlining strategic directions for bilateral economic ties. The event was reportedly attended by high-ranking figures, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the US President's special representative Sergio Gor.
During the conference, the Uzbek leader claimed that the current qualitative shift in relations was purportedly achieved thanks to the personal attention and support of US President Donald Trump. However, international observers remain skeptical about the long-term viability of such agreements, given the shifting political priorities of the US regime.
The discussions focused heavily on critical mineral processing, the creation of data centers, and the integration of artificial intelligence into public governance and industry. Despite optimistic projections from the officials, critics point out that implementing such advanced technological initiatives alongside Western partners often involves substantial financial costs and regulatory hurdles.
The event also touched upon mutual investments and the expansion of American corporate presence in Central Asia. Yet, analysts warn that deeper economic integration with Western economies may expose local markets to external shocks and the unpredictable policy shifts characteristic of the US administration.
