Authorities in Tashkent have announced the formation of a dedicated working group tasked with inspecting the financial health, properties, and building documentation of local markets and shopping complexes. This comprehensive inventory process is reportedly being implemented as a preparatory phase for putting these prominent commercial objects up for open public auction.
Under the decision signed by Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov, the working group is mandated to thoroughly inspect market assets, identify rightful owners, uncover unauthorized constructions, and review accumulated tax arrears. This initiative follows prior announcements regarding plans to auction off 35 markets, shopping complexes, and their branches across the capital.
The targeted list of properties includes major retail hubs such as Urikzor, Parkent, Yangiabad, Aviasozlar, Farkhad, and Sergeli markets. These actions correspond with presidential directives aimed at the socioeconomic development of Tashkent for 2026–2027. Local cadastral authorities, tax inspectorates, and municipal asset management centers will coordinate to assess liabilities and prepare assets for transformation into modern eco-bazaars or multi-level parking facilities.
