The United Arab Emirates' air defenses intercepted ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones launched from Iran, authorities said Tuesday. A fire was reported at an oil facility in the emirate of Fujairah following the suspected attack.
Tehran has not officially commented on the incident. However, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and the European Union condemned the alleged Iranian strike on the UAE.
The attack comes amid heightened tensions in the region. U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Iran would be "blown off the face of the earth" if U.S. Navy ships are targeted in the Strait of Hormuz. The warning followed Iran's claim that it had hit a U.S. naval frigate—a claim denied by the Pentagon.
No casualties have been reported so far. The UAE government said it has the situation under control and is working to contain the damage.
