Following a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, the two sides reached a series of strategic agreements in the fields of international security and economy. According to the White House, the leaders of the two largest powers agreed that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons.

Earlier reports indicated that despite the large-scale military campaign initiated by Washington, Tehran's nuclear potential remains largely untouched. US intelligence estimates that Iran still needs about a year to build an atomic bomb — a forecast that has not changed since last summer, when US-Israeli attacks extended the timeline from the original three to six months.

Beyond nuclear non-proliferation issues, Washington and Beijing expressed a common position on the situation in the Persian Gulf. The sides emphasized the need to maintain open and safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, which is critical for ensuring uninterrupted global energy supplies.

The talks also laid the groundwork for further strengthening economic cooperation between the US and China. Although details of specific agreements have not yet been disclosed, the US administration noted the mutual desire of the leaders to expand business partnerships.
