Indonesia's Mount Lewotobi has seen a sharp increase in volcanic activity, erupting 28 times in the past week alone. According to the country's Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation, the latest eruption sent a thick gray ash column up to 1.5 kilometers above the crater, with the cloud spreading westward and northwestward.

The latest report from MAGMA Indonesia indicates that the volcano's alert level has been officially raised to Level III ("Warning"). Recent seismic observations recorded three earthquakes directly caused by the eruption, lasting between 57 and 150 seconds.

Due to the ongoing activity, local residents and tourists are strongly advised to stay at least five kilometers away from the crater and to wear protective masks when outdoors.

Despite the severity of the natural phenomenon, there is no threat to vacationers at popular resorts on Bali, Java, and Kalimantan. Lewotobi is located on the eastern part of Flores Island, a region rarely visited by organized tourists. However, indirect restrictions have affected the entertainment industry: due to the temporary suspension of operations at Labuan Bajo airport, authorities have temporarily closed excursions to the famous Komodo National Park.
