Russian forces launched a series of overnight attacks on Ukraine, killing at least four people and injuring 10 others, officials said Friday. The strikes came a day after massive missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, the deadliest on the capital this year.
In the Sumy region, a Russian drone struck a house, killing two women, an elderly man, and a two-year-old girl. Seven people were also injured in a missile strike on Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Ukrainian Red Cross reported that its humanitarian warehouse was damaged, destroying 320,000 relief items. The organization warned that the damage would affect emergency response and humanitarian operations across Ukraine.
President Zelenskyy cut short a visit to Ireland and criticized allies for failing to deliver promised air defense systems. 'If our partners had delivered on their promises in a timely manner, we could have saved more homes and lives today,' he said.
Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia launched 74 missiles and 496 drones overnight. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed the strikes targeted military and energy facilities in retaliation for Ukrainian drone attacks.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said she would propose new sanctions on entities supporting Russia's military-industrial complex. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the attacks, describing them as a 'deadly pattern' of Moscow hitting populated areas.
