On the evening of July 12, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) launched massive airstrikes on 140 targets inside Iran, including air defense systems, radar stations, and drone warehouses.
In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) within hours attacked US military facilities in five regional countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar, and the UAE, using missiles and drones.
In Bahrain, the Sheikh Isa Air Base was targeted; in Kuwait, the Ali Al-Salem base came under attack; Jordanian military reported intercepting four missiles over its territory.
The US side claims the latest strikes were provoked by Tehran's actions. On Sunday, Iran allegedly attacked a container ship in the Gulf of Oman to block a southern shipping route organized by the US along Oman's coast to bypass a naval blockade.
Tehran stated that the latest strikes nullified all diplomatic efforts of the past several months.
Concurrent with the escalation in the Persian Gulf, drones attacked a Kurdish opposition base in Iraq. The origin of the drones remains unknown.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he ordered 1,000 missiles to be placed on full alert for a strike on Iran if Tehran attempts to assassinate him.
