A Mexican judge in the state of Baja California has found three men guilty of the brutal murders of two Australian brothers and their American friend in April 2024. The high-profile triple homicide sent shockwaves through Mexico and drew intense international scrutiny over regional security and the safety of foreign visitors.

Following a monthlong trial in the coastal city of Ensenada, Judge Raul Hernandez ruled that Jesus Gerardo Garcia, Irineo Francisco, and Angel Jesus were legally responsible for the deaths of Australians Callum and Jake Robinson, alongside American Carter Redd Rhoad. The defendants, who had been held in custody for over two years, were additionally convicted of armed robbery and armed carjacking.

Speaking on the verdict, grieving father Martin Robinson expressed that the outcome marked a significant moment in a long and painful journey toward seeking justice. The victims had traveled to Baja California in April 2024 for a surfing trip and camped near Ensenada before disappearing, with their bodies ultimately discovered on May 3 in a well bearing gunshot wounds to the head.

Throughout the trial, chilling details emerged regarding the execution of the crime, highlighting the violent nature of the assault. The Baja California State Attorney General’s Office has formally requested an exemplary sentence of 210 years in prison for each defendant, with the final sentencing hearing scheduled for October 16.
