In Uzbekistan, at the Chimgan ski resort, construction is underway on an innovative five-star hotel. One of the key features of the hotel complex will be a ski slope that starts directly from the building's roof.
Chimgan is an all-season ski resort located in the Chimgan River valley on the western ridge of the Tien Shan mountains. High-altitude landscapes, a variety of slopes for different skill levels, and developed tourist infrastructure attract thousands of tourists here annually.
Currently, a unique five-star Swiss Hotel complex is being actively built at the resort. Its main highlight will be a ski slope from the hotel roof, accessible to both skiers and snowboarders. This bold architectural idea determined the building's spiral shape, which has become its visual dominant feature.
The ski slope is a complex engineering structure designed for constant dynamic loads. Since it simultaneously serves as a roof, the requirements for reliability and strength of the structure significantly increase. Implementing the project required a system of proven materials with high strength and durability. Additional requirements are dictated by the mountain climate: the materials used must withstand sharp temperature fluctuations and be resistant to seismic activity. The scale of the object is also important—it was necessary to ensure quick installation over large areas without loss of quality.
Considering all these factors, the system from the company TECHNONICOL—TN-ROOF Barrier Sidewalk—was chosen, developed specifically for operation under conditions of intensive dynamic and static loads. As waterproofing, the LOGICBASE PVC membrane is used—a fully hermetic, elastic, and durable material that reliably protects the structure from moisture penetration. The membrane's service life reaches 150 years. The material is easy and quick to install, suitable for covering large areas, and is welded with hot air using automatic equipment, without open flame. Additionally, LOGICBASE is resistant to seismic loads, which is especially important for mountain regions: the membrane maintains integrity during underground tremors and friction.
The thermal insulation layer of the system is made from TECHNONICOL CARBON PROF XPS boards.
Protective and drainage functions are provided by the profiled drainage membrane PLANTER Geo. It evenly distributes the load on the underlying layers, and the thermally bonded geotextile TYPAR effectively filters water due to its structure. Drainage channels formed by the membrane's protrusions remove excess moisture from under the operational layer.
The operational layer in the TN-ROOF Barrier Sidewalk system is made as a concrete screed. In the case of Swiss Hotel, a layer of artificial snow will be placed on it.
Completion of construction is planned for 2026. The new hotel will become a vivid example of combining unique architecture, innovative engineering solutions, and high reliability.
