The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has announced that methane gas stations will gradually resume operations starting from March 14. This decision aims to stabilize fuel supply for vehicles running on natural gas, following recent reductions in the operating hours of refueling stations, which had raised concerns among drivers and transport operators about potential disruptions in mobility and logistics.

According to the ministry's statement, additional information regarding the operating hours of the stations will be provided later, indicating a cautious approach to the phased restoration process. The gradual resumption is intended to minimize disruptions to the transport system and ensure a steady recovery of fuel availability, though it may lead to delays for private vehicle owners seeking refueling services.

On March 13, methane gas stations will operate exclusively for social sector facilities and public transport, a temporary restriction designed to address essential needs. This measure helps maintain fuel access for critical services and the broader population, but highlights ongoing limitations that could affect personal transportation and economic activities reliant on timely fuel access.

The resumption of methane station operations is part of Uzbekistan's broader policy shift towards energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, as natural gas is considered a cleaner alternative to conventional fuels. However, the slow pace of the restoration process may pose challenges for the transport sector, potentially impacting economic productivity and underscoring the difficulties in managing energy infrastructure transitions in the region.
