Uzbekistan has launched the mobile application “AvtoRaqam” to streamline the process of selecting and purchasing state license plates for vehicles. According to Zoyir Yo‘ldoshev, press secretary of the State Road Traffic Safety Service, the app is available for download via Google Play and App Store. This initiative aims to digitize and enhance transparency in the license plate selection process for car owners.
Through the app, users can choose special number combinations deemed “attractive,” while ordinary plates will be distributed via random selection (Random). The process is fully automated using electronic programs, limiting human intervention and helping reduce corruption risks. The app is designed for individuals, legal entities, and stateless persons, though ordering capabilities for foreign citizens are currently restricted and planned for future addition.
The “AvtoRaqam” app provides number selection not only for cars but also for motorcycles and scooters. Users can check plate availability in real-time, review prices, reserve preferred numbers, and formalize them. Additionally, the app includes a search function for specific letters or digits, making the process more convenient.
The stages of plate formalization can be tracked through the personal account in the app. Access is via phone number or the OneID system, and payments are accepted in cashless form through all popular payment services. After purchasing a number, the user can obtain the license plate at a YHXX office by verifying identity with documents such as a passport or ID card.
This new service is implemented in line with a Cabinet of Ministers resolution from September 4, 2025, under which the “Uzbekistan Republican Commodity Exchange” ceased auction sales of “attractive” plates starting October 1, 2025. Furthermore, from January 1, 2026, the state unitary enterprise “Uzavtomotobelgi” has been granted the right to offer unique plates through open electronic auctions, fostering further development of the license plate market.
