President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during a meeting on April 24, ordered disciplinary measures against 13 district governors who failed to meet industrial and export targets, the presidential press service reported.

The meeting criticized the districts of Kamashi, Karshi, Mirishkor, Arnasoy, Sharof Rashidov, Yangiabad, Navbahor, Kosonsoy, Kumkurgan, Furkat, Shovot, Shaykhontohur, and Sergeli for not fulfilling their industrial plans. The governors were instructed to face disciplinary action proportional to their shortfall.

Despite increased copper supply on the domestic market, processing volumes remain below 6,000 tons per month. Consequently, in the first quarter, industrial growth in the electrical engineering sector reached only 7.8% against a forecast of 11.2%, while the export plan was merely 57% fulfilled.

To support electrical engineering exports, $100 million in resources were allocated, and collateral-free loans for working capital were made available. However, no bank reportedly issued loans under these terms, drawing criticism from the president.

Officials were tasked with visiting every enterprise with declining production and exports to resolve issues on-site, finance exports, and support investment projects. By the end of the second quarter, the goal is to raise industrial output to 25 trillion soums and exports to $1 billion.

Earlier, it was reported that the suitability of the governors of Nurafshan city and Guzar, Narpay, Urgench, Yangiyul, and Chinaz districts would be reviewed.
