Tashkent, Uzbekistan – AN Podrobno.uz. In several districts and cities of Uzbekistan, export volumes in the first quarter more than halved. Despite signed contracts worth billions of dollars, actual shipments of goods abroad have not started in many regions.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev conducted a critical analysis of the situation at a videoconference meeting. According to the data presented, over the past six months, 908 entrepreneurs signed export agreements totaling $3.6 billion. However, due to changing market conditions in partner countries, businesses faced difficulties, while local khokims, instead of helping to solve problems, let the situation drift.

Such inaction by administrations led to a sharp drop in statistics. In the Naryn, Kasbi, Sherabad, Yazyavan, and Denau districts, exports collapsed by more than half. A similar picture is observed in the Tashkent and Parkent districts, as well as in the cities of Jizzakh, Navoi, Namangan, Angren, Bekabad, Nurafshan, Shakhrisabz, and Uchkuduk, where indicators did not even reach 70%. The head of state warned the leaders of these territories: if the situation does not improve by the end of the half-year, “strict personnel conclusions” will be made against them.

To rectify the situation, the country plans to introduce a unified comprehensive approach to supporting exporters. The new system should move away from formal reporting and focus on real assistance to businesses – finding new sales markets, allocating working capital, international certification, and logistics. Relevant agencies have been instructed to urgently develop a holistic mechanism aimed at achieving concrete export results.

Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a videoconference meeting on economic growth sharply criticized local executive authorities. The head of state noted that instead of assisting businesses, many khokims are mired in bureaucracy and attempts to hide their own mistakes, which hinders regional development.
