Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. During the 'Uzbekistan Energy Week – 2026', the Ministry of Energy, in partnership with UAE-based AMEA Power, has launched several major projects in energy storage and wind power. The total value of the initiatives exceeds $1.3 billion.

According to the ministry, construction of a 150 MW/300 MWh energy storage system has begun in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent, with a project cost of $86.1 million.

A similar facility is planned in the Gijduvan district of Bukhara region, with a capacity of 200 MW and 800 MWh, requiring an investment of $200 million.

The largest project is a 1,000 MW wind farm in the Kungrad district of Karakalpakstan, which also includes a 40-kilometer power transmission line. Its cost is estimated at $1.06 billion.

The ministry noted that these projects are expected to enhance the stability of the energy system, reduce peak load, and expand the use of renewable energy sources.

Earlier, it was reported that in 2026, Uzbekistan also plans to commission 13 hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 114 MW, with an expected annual output of 537 million kWh.
