According to the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change of Karakalpakstan, 893 houbara bustards have been released onto the Ustyurt Plateau in the Kungrad district.

The release was carried out in cooperation with Falcon Hunting Solutions LLC. The committee plans to release between 2,000 and 3,000 houbara bustards into the wild annually.

The houbara bustard is listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan, the IUCN Red List, and Appendix I of the CITES convention, which regulates trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora.

Previously, 2,400 houbara bustards were released in the Navoi region (Uchkuduk, Tamdy, Konimekh, Nurota districts). The birds are being monitored via GPS. The project was implemented with the participation of the Ecology Committee and the UAE.

The breeding of these birds in Uzbekistan is largely funded by the United Arab Emirates. In the Bukhara region, the Emirates Bird Breeding Center for Conservation operates, and since 2008, the Emirates Center for Conservation of Houbara has been active in the Navoi region.

According to the National Ecology Committee, the houbara bustard primarily inhabits the Kyzylkum Desert in Uzbekistan, as well as Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Transcaucasia, Egypt, West Asia, and Mongolia.
