Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation of extensive proposals for socio-economic support of needy segments of the population in connection with the Kurban Khayit holiday.
The package of charitable measures was jointly developed by the Muslim Board, the National Social Protection Agency, the Ministries of Health, Economy and Finance, the Mahalla Association, and the public charitable foundation "Waqf". A total of 690 billion soums will be allocated to the "Waqf" foundation to implement all planned programs.
A significant portion of these funds will go toward saving lives and restoring health. The financing will cover surgical operations for 10,000 children suffering from severe diseases and ailments leading to disability. Medical examinations, treatment, and surgical interventions will be fully paid for 2,300 patients with oncological, hematological, and oncohematological diagnoses. Additionally, high-tech liver and kidney transplant operations will be performed for at least 350 people at state expense.
Special attention in the program is given to supporting children in need of social protection. More than 8,000 orphans, children left without parental care, and children of servicemen who died defending the homeland will receive $200 each into special savings accounts. Concurrently, lonely elderly citizens, disabled persons requiring care, and families on state support will receive free food packages. Charity tables and kurban rituals will be organized in mahallas and pilgrimage sites.
Part of the allocated budget will go to religious and communal infrastructure. In 500 mosques across the country, modern ablution rooms will be reconstructed, repaired, or built from scratch, and cemeteries will be improved. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev strictly emphasized that all activities related to treating the sick, supporting children, and helping the needy must be organized with absolute transparency and be targeted, giving strict instructions to agency heads in this regard.
