A court in the Tashkent region has sentenced a group of previously convicted individuals to prison terms ranging from 8 to 10 years for attempting to sell nearly one kilogram of hashish.

The case centers on a 27-year-old woman from Bekabad, previously convicted for threats and insults. According to the investigation, she attempted to arrange hashish supplies from abroad for further sale in Uzbekistan but was detained along with accomplices while receiving the drug shipment.

It was established that in the summer of 2025, the woman traveled to a neighboring republic, where she agreed to purchase one kilogram of hashish for $6,000. Later, via a messenger app, she received coordinates of a stash containing the narcotic substance.

To retrieve the stash, she enlisted two acquaintances, also previously convicted for drug-related crimes. All three arrived at the stash location but were detained by law enforcement officers while attempting to collect the drugs. The substance was seized on the spot.

Forensic examination revealed that the net weight of the seized hashish was 985 grams.

The investigation also found that the accused, together with an accomplice, rented accommodation in Bekabad, where they organized a den for drug sales and consumption.

The court found all defendants guilty under relevant articles of the Criminal Code related to drug trafficking and sentenced them to prison terms ranging from 8 years and 3 months to 10 years and 6 months.

Law enforcement authorities remind citizens that if they identify facts of illegal drug trafficking, they can report it via short number 1520. Confidentiality is guaranteed.
