The Cultural Heritage Agency and the administration of the Imam Bukhari Memorial Complex have issued an urgent appeal to compatriots and foreign tourists, urging strict adherence to the culture of visiting the shrine, maintaining cleanliness, and treating buildings, columns, decorative elements, and museum exhibits with care.
On the territory of this unique site in the Samarkand region, cases of negligent attitude towards expensive materials and structures have already been recorded among some visitors.
The agency emphasized that such actions damage the appearance of the architectural monument and hinder the preservation of its original condition for years to come.
Citizens and pilgrims were reminded that every element of this large-scale ensemble was created through immense effort, responsibility, and significant state funds, so its preservation for future generations is the duty of every visitor.
The renovated Imam Bukhari complex was officially opened on March 19, 2026, by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. After extensive reconstruction, the historical site acquired a majestic appearance, harmoniously combining advanced technologies and national architectural traditions.
Today, the total area of the complex is 45 hectares. It includes the burial site of the great scholar, a cathedral mosque with a capacity of 10,000 people, aivans with 154 carved columns, 14 blue domes, 4 minarets 75 meters high, and an innovative museum of 9 pavilions detailing the life and scientific legacy of the theologian.
Rare materials and expensive imported marble were used in construction, and highly qualified specialists were involved in the work.
