Uzbek boxer Shahram Giyasov, competing in the welterweight division, faced British opponent Jack Catterall for the WBA Regular title in Giza, Egypt, on a fight night headlined by Oleksandr Usyk vs. Rico Verhoeven.
The bout went the full 12 rounds, with judges scoring unanimously for Catterall: 118-109, 119-108, and 116-111. Giyasov was knocked down in the first round.
Punch statistics showed Catterall's dominance: he landed 219 of 551 punches (40%), while Giyasov landed 78 of 366 (21%). Catterall also led in power punches, 98 to 55.
This defeat is the first of Giyasov's professional career. He previously had 17 wins, 10 by knockout. His last fight was in April 2025, when he knocked out Franco Ocampo in the fourth round.
Before the fight, Giyasov was ranked first in the WBA, with Catterall sixth. In the WBO rankings, Catterall holds the top spot, while Giyasov is 11th. For the 32-year-old Briton, this was his 33rd win against two losses.
