A corruption case has been uncovered in the Bektemir district tax inspectorate of Tashkent, the State Security Service reports.

It was found that the head of a department in the district tax inspectorate learned of a complaint about a local entrepreneur's store failing to issue a sales receipt to a customer.

Abusing his position, he demanded a bribe of 4 million soums from the entrepreneur in exchange for not drawing up an administrative report and not submitting the case to court.

The department head was caught red-handed while receiving the money through a tax inspector.

During the pre-investigation check, previous violations by this inspector were also uncovered. In particular, in April he received 1.5 million soums for ignoring a complaint about another customer not receiving a receipt at the same store.

Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against these tax officials, and investigative actions are underway.
