According to the State Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan extracted approximately 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas in April. This marks an 18.8% decline (nearly 700 million cubic meters) compared to April of the previous year.
The downward trend in gas production has accelerated since the end of last year. In the first four months of the year (January-April), extraction totaled about 12.6 billion cubic meters, down 16% (2.4 billion cubic meters) from the same period in 2024. Compared to the first four months of 2019 (20.8 billion cubic meters), the decline amounts to 8.2 billion cubic meters.
Energy Minister Jorabek Mirzamakhmudov previously stated in an interview that the decline was expected and that the main task now is to stabilize production and maintain current volumes.
Total electricity generation in January-April increased by 3.1% (896.9 million kWh) year-on-year, reaching 29.9 billion kWh. However, in April alone, generation fell by 6% to 6.9 billion kWh.
Large energy supply enterprises, primarily fueled by gas (as well as coal and hydropower), saw a 6.2% drop in electricity output during the four-month period, totaling 20.5 billion kWh.
These losses are being offset by small-scale producers (including solar, wind, and hydropower plants), which generated 9.3 billion kWh — a 31.7% increase compared to January-April 2025.
According to the Ministry of Energy, large solar and wind power stations produced 3.4 billion kWh in the period, up 32% (794.4 million kWh) year-on-year. Solar photovoltaic plants accounted for 1.88 billion kWh, while wind farms contributed 1.54 billion kWh.
The share of “green” energy in total generation reached 11.4% over four months, and 14.8% in April alone.
Oil extraction in April fell to 51,700 tons (down 3.4% from April 2025). Over four months, oil output decreased to 209,000 tons (-2.5%).
Gasoline production in April rose to 104,300 tons, up 21.7% year-on-year. The four-month total reached 417,500 tons (+7.1%, or 27,500 tons more).
Diesel fuel production surged to 199,000 tons in April (+38.9% year-on-year). Compared to January-April 2024, output increased by 17.1% to 381,000 tons.
Coal extraction plunged sharply in April to 200,000 tons (-64.1%). Since the start of the year, production has fallen 27.7% to 1.3 million tons.
