President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev is set to make an official visit to Belarus on July 8-9. Preparations are already underway, with both sides expecting the visit to give a new impetus to bilateral relations.

The upcoming visit was announced by Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin after his report to President Alexander Lukashenko on June 23 in Minsk.

According to the Belarusian premier, during his recent working visit to Uzbekistan, key areas of cooperation were discussed, noting their successful and dynamic development. Special attention was paid to filling the future visit of the Uzbek president with concrete agreements.

Turchin added that the visit would elevate relations to a new level. This year, the goal is to achieve a billion dollars in trade turnover, and by 2030 to double it.

"This is an ambitious task requiring great efforts," the prime minister noted.

Recall that on June 16-17, Turchin was on a working visit to Uzbekistan. During the trip, he held talks with the president and participated in the plenary session of the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum.
