Videos circulating on social media show chaotic scenes at the Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent, where a fan zone was set up for the World Cup match between Uzbekistan and Portugal. Thousands of fans gathered at the entrances, forming long queues, while some attempted to climb over barriers to gain entry.

According to the Tashkent City Main Internal Affairs Directorate (GUVD), the excitement around the match was so high that all available spots in the fan zone were filled before the game started. Consequently, entry to the stadium grounds was halted around 9:00 PM. Late-arriving fans were advised to use other fan zones set up in the capital's districts. However, some individuals expressed dissatisfaction and tried to bypass the rules.

The GUVD stated that police and National Guard personnel were deployed to ensure security. After tensions arose, law enforcement quickly restored public order.

Preventive talks were held with those attempting to violate the rules, and official warnings were issued to all of them.

The authorities reminded that fan zones for watching national team matches are organized not only in Tashkent but across all regions of the country. Law enforcement emphasized that visitor safety is ensured at all venues, and any attempts to disrupt public order will be suppressed in accordance with the law.

It is worth recalling that the Uzbekistan national team suffered a heavy defeat against Portugal in their second match of the 2026 World Cup.
