The Tashkent city administration has issued an official statement regarding social media rumors about the activities of a well-known book seller, dubbed the “book man.”

The city khokimiyat denied reports that the seller’s previously allocated premises had been confiscated, and clarified the current situation.

Earlier, on the initiative of the Tashkent khokimiyat and the Youth Affairs Agency, a permanent trading point was organized for the seller on the territory of the Student Campus in the Almazar district. The administration stressed that this site continues to operate as before; it has not been closed or seized by anyone.

The temporary change of location is due to a seasonal factor. Due to a decrease in customer flow at the Student Campus during the summer holidays, the bookseller decided on his own initiative to temporarily move to the area of the Buyuk Ipak Yoli metro station, where there is higher pedestrian traffic. This is his personal decision.

Currently, the authorities are studying the issue of creating additional conditions for the seller. In particular, the possibility of organizing a special trading place for him near the Buyuk Ipak Yoli metro station is being considered. At the same time, he retains the trading point in the Almazar district and the opportunity to use it. The khokimiyat urged citizens to trust only reliable information from official sources.
