The number of pension recipients in Uzbekistan continues to grow. As of July 1, 2026, 4.36 million people receive payments — 158,900 more than a year earlier.

These figures are from a report by the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the Pension Fund's activities for the first half of 2026. The majority of recipients are old-age pensioners, numbering 3.62 million, or 83% of all pensioners. Another 482,200 receive disability pensions, and 261,300 receive survivor benefits.

The increase in pensioners is also reflected in new assignments: 154,200 pensions were granted for the first time in the first six months of the year.

Regional distribution remains uneven. The largest number of recipients lives in Fergana region — 515,400 people. It is followed by Samarkand, Andijan, and Kashkadarya regions, which together account for about 41% of all pensioners.

The smallest number of pensioners is registered in Syrdarya region — 111,300 people.

Earlier, Uzbek authorities proposed gradually increasing the minimum work experience required for a pension, aligning it with international practice. According to reform developers, current requirements reduce citizens' interest in official employment.
