️ A former juvenile inspector from the Denau district police department, identified as A.R., has been convicted of sexual crimes against a minor girl, receiving a sentence of 15 years and 1 month in prison.
️ Initially, he was charged under Article 128 (sexual intercourse with a person under 16), Part 3 of Article 129 (depraved acts), and Part 1 of Article 206 (abuse of power) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
️ On July 22, the Denau District Criminal Court found him guilty under Part 4 of Article 118 (rape) and Part 1 of Article 206, sentencing him to 15 years and 1 month in a general-regime correctional colony, with a 2-year ban on working in law enforcement.
️ The verdict comes amid controversy: a recent report by the publication 'Negativ' questioned the thoroughness and objectivity of the investigation and alleged procedural violations during the trial.
️ Defense lawyers claim the court unjustly rejected their motions and failed to summon key witnesses and experts for questioning.
️ The report also alleges irregularities in the transportation of physical evidence to the Republican Center for Forensic Examination, suggesting it was handled without proper procedures, witnesses, or documentation, potentially compromising its admissibility.
️ The Surkhandarya Regional Court stated that no appeals or protests against the sentence have been filed so far.
