In Kuva, Fergana region, two local residents attempted to illegally register a land plot using forged documents. They promised a man they would help him obtain land for house construction, prepared a fake cadastral package, and demanded $5,000 for their services.

According to the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office, the suspects acted on a preliminary conspiracy. They offered the citizen to register 32 ares of land from the khokimiyat's reserve as a plot for residential construction. To give the transaction a semblance of legality, the fraudsters prepared fake cadastral documents, handed them to the man, and then took $5,000 from him.

However, they failed to register the land plot. During the investigation, part of the money was returned to the victim: $2,400 and 7.2 million soums.

A criminal case has been opened under Articles 168 (Fraud) and 228 (Forgery, sale, or use of documents, stamps, seals, and forms) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.

Earlier, Uzbekistan changed its approach to assessing housing prices: the National Statistics Committee updated the methodology for calculating real estate price indices. Now, the analysis will take into account the characteristics of properties, and for the first time, private houses have been included in the calculations.
