The lonely pensioner Ludmila Zhuravleva, whose story gained wide public resonance after a video showing her complaints that a social worker locked her in an apartment without food, water, or gas, has been moved to the Social Support Center. This was reported to Podrobno.uz by the National Social Protection Agency.

According to agency representatives, the pensioner has been diagnosed with dementia and other diseases, making it unsafe to leave her alone in the apartment. “She has memory lapses. Sometimes she remembers events, sometimes not. She may forget where she is and what she is doing. Therefore, she needs round-the-clock care and supervision by specialists,” the agency said.

The agency also clarified that the woman was placed not in a nursing home, but in the Social Support Center, where she will be under the supervision of doctors and other specialists.

The agency reported that the pensioner’s condition had gradually deteriorated. Previously, she was diagnosed with a mental disorder, and after a re-examination, dementia. When exactly the diagnosis was made was not specified, with a promise to provide the information later.

Recall that after the video was published, in which Ludmila Zhuravleva complained of being locked in her apartment without food, water, or gas, the district khokimiyat assured that the woman was under the supervision of social services and that the apartment keys were kept by the social worker for her safety. However, a subsequent prosecutor’s investigation revealed much more serious circumstances: it turned out that the pensioner’s apartment had been re-registered to another person back in September 2025. A criminal case on fraud has been opened in connection with this.
