Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. Nearly half of technology startup founders in Uzbekistan are under the age of 25, according to a study by the analytical platform Standbase.

The research reveals that 47% of startup founders in the country are younger than 25. In comparison, the average age of a tech entrepreneur in European countries is around 37 years. This highlights the rapid growth of the young startup ecosystem in Uzbekistan.

The ecosystem remains predominantly male: 92% of startup founders are men, while women account for only 8%. Researchers note that this gender imbalance is partly explained by the specifics of the sample and the channels used to attract survey participants.

The study also shows that 70% of active startups were launched less than a year ago. Meanwhile, 61% of projects are still at the idea or minimum viable product (MVP) stage, and 53% of teams have not yet achieved stable revenue.

Another characteristic of the market is the high proportion of entrepreneurs working without partners: 46% of founders launch projects solo, without co-founders.

Umer Rakhimov, founder of Standbase, noted that one reason for the high share of young entrepreneurs is government support measures for the IT sector and decisions made in early 2025 to develop tech entrepreneurship.

According to the study, 85% of early-stage investments are currently provided by local investors, primarily business angels. Venture funds typically join at later stages, investing amounts exceeding $200,000.

At the same time, analysts point out that the rapid growth in the number of young teams is accompanied by a shortage of Middle and Senior specialists, as well as a lack of practical experience in product commercialization and sales.

Earlier, Uzbekistan topped the global ranking for venture investment growth. Over the year, startup funding increased by 539.7% to reach $123 million, which experts attributed to the low base effect and several major deals in the domestic market.
