In the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan, law enforcement authorities are investigating two criminal cases involving the large-scale theft of asphalt and budget funds. According to investigators, responsible employees of landscaping services in two districts may have illegally appropriated over a thousand tons of asphalt, with a total value exceeding 670 million soums.

The first incident was uncovered in the Sharaf Rashidov district. During an inspection, it was found that officials from the district's landscaping department had not paved six internal roads, despite the materials having been purchased for the work. The investigation believes that 634 tons of asphalt, worth 348.7 million soums, were sold for cash, and the proceeds were used for personal purposes.

A similar situation was discovered in the Parkent district. Here, officials from the same department, according to preliminary data, acted in collusion. They allegedly fabricated documents claiming the receipt of 540 tons of asphalt from a company, although no delivery actually occurred. Based on these documents, 324 million soums were withdrawn from the budget.

Criminal cases have been opened on both facts under the article on embezzlement or misappropriation of property. Investigative actions are ongoing, with authorities working to establish all circumstances and identify all parties involved.

It is worth recalling that Uzbekistan is considering the use of plastic waste in road construction. The "Eco-asphalt" startup, developed by eco-activist Mukaddam Bekmurodova, aims to recycle non-recyclable plastic and improve the quality of road infrastructure.
