A court in Fergana has sentenced a 26-year-old man to 11 years in prison for attempting to sell nearly a kilogram of hashish. The Fergana City Court found him guilty of attempting to sell narcotics on an especially large scale.

According to the investigation, between October and November last year, the man collected wild cannabis, processed it using makeshift methods, and produced 989 grams of hashish.

To conceal the drug, he wrapped it in plastic and hid it among construction rubble and garbage in an abandoned area near his home. He later tried to sell the hashish for 100 million soums.

The arrest was carried out by officers from the State Security Service and the Interior Ministry during a special operation against drug trafficking. The man was caught red-handed during the transaction.

The convict has two minor children. Despite this, the court emphasized that the desire to earn money through illegal means cannot justify a crime that endangers the lives and health of others.

Earlier, in the Khorezm and Namangan regions, law enforcement thwarted two drug-related crimes. In one case, nearly a kilogram of hashish was smuggled into the country disguised as chocolate, and in another, a large cannabis plantation was discovered.
