Law enforcement authorities in the Karmana district of Uzbekistan's Navoi region have cracked down on the illegal circulation of substandard medicines. During an operation conducted by the district department of the Prosecutor General's Office together with other law enforcement agencies, the storage of low-quality products was uncovered.

Investigators found that individuals had stored 37 types of expired and substandard medicines in a residential house in the Vark neighborhood, intending to sell them later. In total, 3,441 packages of pharmaceuticals worth 176.1 million soums were confiscated.

The seized products have been officially registered as material evidence. A criminal case has been opened against the suspects under Article 276-12 of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code, which stipulates liability for the illegal production, acquisition, storage, or sale of substandard or counterfeit medicines.

Investigative actions are currently underway. Authorities urge citizens to purchase medicines only from licensed pharmacies and to check expiration dates.
