In Uzbekistan's Surkhandarya region, social media users spread claims of large-scale tree cutting at the Surkhandarya Scientific Experimental Station in Denau. However, after an inspection, specialists stated that the trees were not cut down but were toppled by strong winds.

According to the regional Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, inspectors visited the site following the social media posts and examined the area.

The inspection revealed that the trees had been uprooted due to strong winds. Specialists noted that there were no saw marks on the trunks, and the root systems were turned out with soil, indicating a natural cause for their fall.

The department emphasized that the information about deliberate tree cutting was not confirmed.

Currently, cleanup of the fallen trees is underway at the eco-park. The work is being carried out to ensure visitor safety, clear pedestrian paths, and conduct sanitary measures.

Ecologists also urged citizens to rely on official information and not to draw conclusions based on unverified social media posts.

Earlier, dozens of old trees were removed in the capital, replaced with lawns and saplings. Tashkent authorities explained the reasons.
