Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov inspected the demolition of unauthorized structures on Qatartal Street during a visit to the Chilanzar district. These structures had occupied sidewalks for years, forcing pedestrians onto the roadway.

The inspection was conducted together with Aziz Azimov, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Department for Public Safety and Rule of Law, as well as heads of relevant agencies and district officials. The focus was on freeing public spaces from illegal buildings, improving landscaping, and developing engineering and utility infrastructure.

Earlier, the demolition of commercial facilities at Qatartal sparked public outcry after videos circulated on social media. The district administration explained that the structures were built without proper permits. The Nomdor cafe was demolished by court order, with the owner offered to relocate the business legally, and employees promised assistance in finding new jobs.

City authorities emphasized that sidewalks must be accessible to all pedestrians, including children, the elderly, parents with strollers, and people with disabilities. Therefore, the removal of illegal structures will continue.

Officials also reviewed landscaping work in the Zarkurgon neighborhood, power supply reliability in Navbahor, and issues at the GES-9 substation in Lutfi. The administration stated that all efforts aim to create a more comfortable and safe urban environment.
