A serious accident occurred in Almalyk, Uzbekistan, at around 11:55 AM today, when a major pulp pipeline belonging to the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant (AMMP) ruptured. Videos circulating on social media show a powerful fountain of dark liquid erupting from beneath the asphalt, flooding an area where cars were parked.

The pipeline was reportedly used to transport pulp to the tailings storage facility of the copper processing plant. The incident has raised concerns about potential environmental contamination, though officials have not yet disclosed the full extent of the damage.

According to the plant's information service, repair work has already been completed, the consequences of the accident have been eliminated, and the roads have been cleaned. However, this incident highlights the aging infrastructure and inadequate safety measures at industrial facilities, which could pose risks to both the environment and public health.

This comes shortly after a similar incident in Tashkent, where an underground pipeline burst near the new Tashkent Medical Institute, causing an explosion. At that time, planned hydraulic tests were being conducted on the heating networks. Windows in nearby shops were shattered, but no injuries were reported. These recurring incidents underscore the urgent need for modernization and stricter oversight of critical infrastructure in Uzbekistan.
